In June 2016 all of us at Speak English Fast were shocked and disappointed to learn that the UK had voted by the small margin of 48:52 to leave the European Union. At SEF we value unity above division and cooperation above confrontation, so the vote went the wrong way for us. We believe that the values and aims of the EU founders to achieve and preserve peace in Europe are paramount (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_Coal_and_Steel_Community). We worry that this vote might lead to the fragmentation of Europe, reviving the national rivalries that led to two World Wars in the last century.
An immediate consequence of the vote was a devaluation of sterling. This, ironically, offers a benefit to all our visitors. Our prices have now become about 20% lower than they were, when converted to your currency.
